ELCAFactChecker

This is a great idea.  Because some people only seem to believe it if they read it on the internet.  This is an FAQ about the Genetics Social Statement.  Lots of nonsense being spread about that statement.  I wish there had been something like this about the sexuality statement last year.  Or one to address some other rumours being spread about the ELCA - you know like how we've all been led astray by heretics like the notorious liberal universalist Carl Braaten.

  1. It IS a great idea -- thanks for publicizing it.

On a personal note, this is the scary thing about living abroad. I not only didn't hear the false rumors, I didn't ... um ... know there was a draft statement on genetics.

Next thing they're gonna tell me Hoover isn't president any more.

  2. Thanks for highlighting this. And in defense of people who read stuff on the internet, it's a lot easier to hold and access discussions on the internet for interested parties and with the input of experts, than it is to try to convene a regularly attended and updated discussion group at a church.

I say this as someone who has often lived in remote and rural communities, and who has also tried to convene regular discussion groups at churches. ;-)

yes, I think ELCA factcheck blogs should be a regular feature from now on.

    thanks again for highlighting this!
