So nearby ELCA church votes to leave the ELCA and affiliate with the LCMC. Pastor comes to ELCA conference rostered leaders meeting and asks to continue to be invited and says how important it is as a witness that we continue to work together.
Of course we said yes but am I the only one who sees an inconsistency here????
"...you don't know what you've got till its gone..." A local church hired a non-ELCA pastor, so they can't be ELCA anymore. I don't know if there was any vote to leave or any procedure like that. Our pastor said that she thought that they didn't realize what they would lose by leaving.
ReplyDeleteApparently he found the high road too lonely.
ReplyDeleteI'm rolling on the floor laughing at Joelle's story. And deeply, deeply troubled by PS's.
ReplyDeleteThere's another nearby church with the same story of "hiring" an LCMC and then not realizing until the deed had been done what it would mean. And of course now the story that gets told is how they had to do that because the big old mean synod wouldn't give them any names.
ReplyDeleteA tiny local congregation scheduled their second vote to leave, knowing that the pastor would remain ELCA and thus would not continue with that parish. The very next week after the vote to leave, the parish called the ELCA asking for assistance with pulpit supply for the following Sunday!
